KARRINGTON BOURGEOIS | TEEN MISS BLACK GLOBAL 2024

Karrington Bourgeois Wilkins, a native of Southern California and is currently a High School Junior while concurrently in community college, with 3.50 cumulative Grade Point Average.  She has been the Salutatorian of her Middle School graduating class (St. Albert the Great Catholic School, Compton, CA); winner of the Catholic Daughters of America High School Essay Scholarship, as well as a recipient of a scholarship from the Little Miss African American Scholarship pageant. Karrington enjoys writing poetry and has been the winner of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, Tau Beta Omega Chapter (Marina Del Rey, CA) Black History Poetry Slam for her poem titled “Harlem Renaissance”.  She is involved in  her church, as part of the Youth Ministry, and  spends her weekends in harmony with the choir United Voices of Peace. Karrington finds solace in participating and volunteering with organizations such as the LadyLike Foundation that render service to families affected by domestic violence and homelessness, as well as providing academic help and mentoring students with disabilities at ICEF Inglewood Charter Academy in Inglewood, California. She is adamant about her scholarly endeavors and works to maintain her academic prowess, as part of the West Angeles Education and Enrichment Program in Los Angeles, California. She is also involved with other organizations such as the LadyLike Foundation and Black Girls Run Los Angeles. She is involved in her school’s Activism Club, and serves as it’s Vice President, along with serving her school in Campus Ministry.  Her aspirations are to obtain a full scholarship to attend and graduate from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in  Communications, with an emphasis in Broadcasting News Media. She will use her degree to become a Journalist for CNN News in Washington D.C. In her spare time she can be found working on starting her blog as well as her nonprofit organization to benefit teenage girls with Autism. Karrington is a published author of the book “Full Circle Moments: When God Shows You Before He Shows You: Testimonies of Faith, an anthology. While continuing to enjoy her hobbies of writing poetry and reading Marvel comics: as an avid Marvel fan her favorite quote is “When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — “No, YOU move.” - Steve Rodgers, Captain America (Amazing Spider-man #537).”
